Mustang Shiloh Shepherds together with Sierra Shiloh Shepherds is thrilled to announce the upcoming dual-sired litter of Phantom and Koda to Shelby. TSSR rules for multi-sired litters will be followed. The puppies will be DNA’d for parentage when they are a couple weeks old so parentage is known well in advance of them going to their new homes. Puppies from either sire will be plush coated with deep rich pigment.

Shelby is a large female with good size and substance; good bone; a strong play drive and is always up for doing anything.  She loves everyone she meets.  She finished 2007 as the ISSDC’s #7 National Select and the TSSR’s #1 National Select.  She is my constant companion and very intuitive to her human family.  Shelby’s first litter produced amazing size, nice temperaments and pups that have excelled at obedience and in the conformation show ring.  All are physically active and protective of their homes and families.  Her daughter, Jet, finished 2007 as NAKC Top Jr Puppy (all breed), TSSR Puppy of The Year and the ISSDC’s National Select #7 winning her first adult Best in Show at just 10 months old.  Jet and Shelby have won 3 Best in Progeny since May 2008.   Shelby is an ARBA Champion and NAKC Supreme Grand Champion.  Shelby was bred by and is co-owned by Susi Ramstead of Sierra Shiloh Shepherds.

Phantom is a phenomenal solid black plush boy who lived most of his life with Patti Schaeffer at Shenandoah Shiloh Shepherds.  Phantom is enjoying a retired life in sunny California.   His contribution to the gene pool is both genetically diverse and visually striking.  We expect puppies from Phantom/Shelby to have solid confident temperaments that will be friendly and outgoing; a strong play (ball) drive; physically capable of doing anything asked; great family companions with show stopping ring presence and outstanding movement.  Phantom has produced a broad spectrum of progeny including the most winning dog (112 BIS/60 RBIS) with both ARBA & the NAKC and a highly accomplished SAR dog (air scent & cadaver) and many family companions. 

Koda is owned by Alana Roberts and co-owned and bred by Susi Ramstead at Sierra Shiloh Shepherds. Koda is sired by Twincedars Desperado (GSD) and is considered a 1st generation outcross (OTX 1). Together, Alana and Koda have excelled in obedience earning their Canine Good Citizen at 7 months old, his Therapy Dog International at 12 months old and his APDT Rally 1 at 19 months old. Koda and Alana are currently working toward their Schutzhund BH title (Traffic Steady Companion Dog Test). Koda is loved by everyone he meets and has a heart of gold. Most meaningful to Alana are their visits at a local nursing home and looks forward to doing more therapy work with him as he seems to be drawn to the elderly. We expect puppies from Koda/Shelby to have medium to medium soft temperaments with solid confidence and to be wonderful family companions. These puppies will be able to excel in obedience, therapy, agility and the conformation show ring. Koda is a full littermate to Tru, owned by Tina Porter and ½ sister to Jet from Shelby’s first litter. Koda has deep rich pigment from his grandsire Phantom.

FAQ :: What is a Dual-Sired Litter?
A dual sired litter is an intentional mating of more than one sire to a female. The sires have been carefully chosen to maximize the genetic potential with fewer litters for Shelby. DNA profiling will be necessary to ensure accuracy of the pedigrees of all the puppy's involved. This is an approved practice according to the rules and regulations of The Shiloh Shepherd Registry.

In this case, Phantom is considered "old line" Shiloh and from the Bear/Tessa lines. His bloodline does not contain the original outcross dog, Samson Woo, that is found multiple times in most of our Shiloh pedigrees. He is also non Captain/Lizzie which is almost impossible to find at this point in our gene pool. Koda is considered a 1st generation outcross (OTX 1) from Jake, a long coated German Shepherd Dog. Koda does contain Captain/Lizzie and Samsom Woo but because he is sired by an outcross there is a dilution of that bloodline.

Both boys, when bred to Shelby, will produce a pedigree that can be integrated nicely into the current gene pool. It was never my intention to breed Shelby more than once and possibly twice. She has a lot to offer in helping to move the breed forward and this is our attempt to maximize genetic diversity with these two outstanding males.
